Brazil, a country of mythical proportions, home to the Amazon Basin and the world’s largest party, the Carnaval of Rio. The people move to the rhythm of the samba and football is almost a religion!
Our cycle journey will take us from the old gold mining town of Ouro Preto in the state of Minas Gerais to the beautiful seventeenth century port of Parati, which once exported cargoes of gold. Minas Gerais, slightly larger than France and with a population of some 16 million, produces half of Brazil’s mineral wealth.
With time to take in one of the world’s most stunningly situated cities, the amazing Rio de Janeiro, this challenging cycle trip gives you a real insight into the contrasts of rural and urban Brazil, into the traditional past and vibrant present.
