The valleys and ridges of the chalk downs west of the historic city of Salisbury set the scene of this challenging bike training weekend – designed to help you on your way to achieving a full cycle challenge.

The aim of the weekend is to gauge your fitness and level of training, so that you can be confident you are well-prepared for your cycle challenge – or have warning that you need to do more training! The weekend can also serve as a stand-alone challenge. Our route is a testing course of hills of varying lengths and gradients, and we will clock up almost 80 miles over the course of the weekend.

We also make time to teach you some general bike maintenance and give you tips to improve your cycling techniques – all geared towards improving your main challenge experience.

Guide Itinerary:

  • DAY 1: Meet in Salisbury then head out through Wilton, the ancient capital of Wessex. Continue on quiet lanes dotted with small traditional villages. Our first few miles are fairly flat, allowing us to practice basic cycling techniques and make any changes necessary to our bikes. Fabulous views over the rolling Wiltshire downs and beautiful woodland nearby. The day includes some steep gradients and fabulous descents finishing on a gentle undulating route.
  • DAY 2: First thing we practice basic bike maintenance skills before setting off on today’s circuit. We take a shorter route south of Salisbury on valley roads before a tougher climb takes us into the New Forest National Park. After that achievement, we can enjoy an easier cycle back to Salisbury. Although there are some great hills to stretch our legs again, the main purpose for today is to see how you feel after yesterday’s efforts and gauge how well you’ll be able to handle consecutive days of cycling on your challenge!

SPECIAL OFFER: Discounted to £149 only when you book your Training Weekend at the same time as your main Challenge!
