When I did LEJOG in May we had a celebration meal in Inverness on the Sat night and DA set off early in their 2 vans on the Sunday with the bikes packed up that they were couriering. So I doubt if they'd give you a lift to the airport. (A few us went on to the Hootenanny club after the meal which I can recommend).
The hills in Devon and Cornwall aren't too bad. I just engaged my granny gear and took my time. Quite a few people overdid it on the first few days and suffered knee pains as a result. And don't forget you are allowed to get off and push (which I only did on the Drumnadrochit hill - which I think was the steepest). The secret is to keep having short stops to take photos, check the map and enjoy the scenery, rather than just seeing tarmac and getting to the hotel too early. It's best to stay in small groups and keep checking up that people don't get separated - but find a group that goes at your pace, and you can have fun with! I did - it was great!
