Discover Adventure Testimonials

Summit Group

Fundraising challenges are very different from a holiday and involve much more in all respects.

The achievement of undergoing such a physical and psychological challenge is immensely rewarding and often life-changing. But don’t just take our word for it – read just some of the feedback we receive year-round.

Feedback From Our Trips

... excerpts from letters and emails from participants & organisations

“I am not given to overt displays of emotion. I didn’t cry when I was married, when my kids were born or when I hit my thumb with a sledgehammer but at the end of this year’s L2P tears were streaming down my face as I circled the Arc De Triomphe and cycled down Les Champs Elysees! Completing the ride gave me the greatest feeling of achievement I have had for many moons. In common with many on the ride I did not think I could do it, which will make the memory and the emotions so much stronger because I did! Malcolm, Bespoke - London to Paris Cycle

"First of all, I’m not the type that rushes home to post a web review of what I’ve done and where I stayed.  It’s just not me.  But I do like to give credit where it’s due. The whole experience was memorable and it gave me a chance to have valuable, quality time with my family, without the distraction of electronic past-times and diversions! The organisation of the challenge, friendliness of the team and assurance that we were in safe hands made the weekend very special for me".  Alec, Snowdon Training Weekend, July 2009

"The DA crew and local crew were all amazing! They worked so hard from start to finish and were a great group of people to meet and walk with. Nothing was too much trouble and I can't thank them enough for their support over the week. Everyone in the group said they wouldn't have  made it to the top without the Guides and the support of the DA leaders. Thankyou! Victoria, Kilimanjaro, Sept 2009

"I loved it all!! The bonding of the group, the humour, the challenge and the opportunity to do something quite different and something which would make a difference to the lives of children in Yorkhill Hospital. I felt the entire trip was really well organised and thought out, with opportunities to have a whole range of experiences, culturally and socially as well as the physical and emotional demands. I found it physically hard, but quite amazing and I am so glad I have had this whole experience!" Morag, Great Wall of China Open Challenge

"I have nothing but praise for the Discover Adventure leaders and doctors. They were amazing and far exceeded my expectations of what a trip leader would be like. The sense of teamwork and achievement on the trip was unforgettable – a truly positive experience." Sam, Peru Trek

"A life changing experience - a chance to find things out about oneself and a chance to connect with people whether British or Vietnamese." Emily, Vietnam Trek Open Challenge

"The whole experience was amazing but the moment we crossed the finish line was special; thinking about what we had achieved and in such beautiful surroundings with breathtaking scenery. There was a touch of sadness in our hearts knowing the journey was over". Lee, Hadrian’s Wall, Aug 2009

"I really enjoyed the whole experience - the people were great and really looked out for one another and the scenery was awesome (in the true sense of the word)." Abi, Inca Trek Open Challenge

"I can't believe what we achieved on our bikes! I don't think I will ever forget it; the 3 days ‘rocked my world’.  Duncan, Classic Cols of the Tour de France,  Sept 2009

"Land’s End to John O’Groats - A fantastic challenge, I’d recommend it to anyone who is serious about their cycling, you will be amazed at what you can achieve". Andy, Sept 2009

"Our leaders were really excellent and set a really good tone, treating everyone as adults, but always looking out for everyone too. I felt we were in really good hands throughout and everyone's enjoyment was considered. In fact a thoroughly enjoyable break from the real world with great scenery and great company plus a chance to reflect. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a DA challenge to anyone I talk to, in fact, I already have. We're already planning the next one, which is the best testimonial possible. Many thanks for a great experience".  Sarah, China, Oct 2009

"One of the best things for me was the fact that we were off the beaten track getting to meet the real people of Peru. Our guide was excellent in showing us the local markets, craft places etc where we were able to contribute to the local economy".  Leanne, Lares Trail, Peru, June 2009

"I am a trustee of Beating Bowel Cancer and have just returned from a very successful and enjoyable trek in the Himalayas.  I would like to put on record the absolutely superb job your leader did in leading us and keeping us safe and well.  He was untiring in the pains he took on our behalf and always conducted himself with humour and patience.  I believe that all on this trek will share my view that he is an outstanding individual and a very accomplished trek leader". Richard, April 2010

"It was a trip of a life time. I thought that the maturity and experience of our team leader was invaluable. He has knowledge, integrity and a wealth of experience to pull from. I thought the moment he asked our group to stop for a minute silence to gather thoughts and block out the chatter was one of the most memorable and worthwhile moments of the trip". Frances, Kilimanjaro, Feb 2010
