The beautiful hills and valleys of the Lake District - one of the best natural adventure playgrounds in the UK – The beautiful hills and valleys of the Lake District - one of the best natural adventure playgrounds in the UK –set the scene for our demanding multi-activity challenge. The route is designed to test your skills, stamina and mental strength as we set off through this fabulous scenery – by canoe, then bike and on foot around Haystacks, before returning to our bikes once more to finish the route.Whether you take part on your own or with friends, this long, tough day offers a great challenge – and the sense of achievement and camaraderie at the end will be unforgettable!

Lake District Multi-Activity

  • We arrive ready for an early morning registration at our start point in Keswick. After an introduction and briefing about the day’s events, we get acquainted with our bikes! We ride alongside the famous lake of Derwentwater, heading towards the beautiful Borrowdale Valley and the tip of the lake. The fells rise up around us and give us an idea of what we are about to undertake! Reaching the end of the lake, we cross the River Derwent and circle round, following the shoreline and heading back on the west side. We leave our bikes at the Catbells trailhead and start walking uphill. Our elevation gives us a new appreciation for the scenery, which is spectacular. The stony track takes us along a ridge with views of Derwentwater on one side and rolling fells and valleys on the other. Reaching the summit at 451m, we give ourselves some time to enjoy the 360° views over Derwentwater, Borrowdale and back to Keswick. We descend by a different route which descends to the south and brings us on a lower level path back to the lake. We pick up our canoes and, after a safety briefing, head out onto the open expanse of Derwentwater – which gives us yet another view of our surroundings. There are several islands on Derwentwater which provide us with the perfect course to get a little competitive, or you can simply paddle with dignity if you prefer! Returning our canoes to shore, we re-join our bikes and complete our strenuous circuit of the Derwentwater shoreline bycycling back to Keswick. Challenge completed, you should be feeling very proud of your achievements!
