FareShare East Midlands has the joint aims of reducing food waste and alleviating poverty. This is achieved by redistributing good quality surplus food from the food industry to local charities and community organisations supporting vulnerable people. They include hostels and homeless centres, community cafes, school breakfast clubs, food banks, drop-in centres and community centres for the elderly, family centres and women’s refuges. To achieve this we engage volunteers with a focus on supporting them to return to work. We offer employability training which covers skills and training needed for individuals to gain employment in all aspects of warehousing, distribution and administration.
