The Great North Air Ambulance Service

The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) is a charitably funded air ambulance service which provides life-saving care to the most ill and injured people in the North East, North Yorkshire, Cumbria and the Isle of Man.

They operate two helicopters in daylight hours and rapid response vehicles on a night-time.

Since becoming a registered charity in 2002, GNAAS has responded more than 30,000 times to incidents across the region.

They are 100% reliant on charitable donations and must therefore raise £9.6m a year to remain operational. This means the cost per day for the charity is £25,959.
