Headway Essex

People who are living with brain injury can find themselves very isolated. They can lose their identity within the community, their family and with their network of friends. At Headway Essex we offer them a place to belong. We identify strengths and weaknesses and help them to pick up the pieces of their shattered lives. We are the only local charity providing long-term care and support for survivors of brain injury.

When someone suffers a severe brain injury the whole family is thrown into turmoil. Headway is here to offer them vital advice, information and emotional support as they adjust to the change of life style, which will inevitably occur.

Headway Essex has a day centre in Colchester providing care five days a week. Through professional help and activity, emphasis is placed on encouraging people to regain lost skills and to learn how to manage back in society whilst developing the ability and emotional strength to lead a full life.

Headway also provides vital support to people living with brain injury and their families within the community and has a Community Support Service who are just a phone call away.
