Medical Detection Dogs

Medical Detection Dogs work with the powerful scenting instincts of dogs to help detect and manage human disease. There are two sides to the charity - One trains and partners dogs to alert and support people who manage life-threatening health conditions, and the other works in research, in the early detection of cancer. Our Medical Alert Assistance dogs currently support people with type 1 diabetes, Addison's disease, Narcolepsy and severe allergies, helping prevent dangerous medical episodes, such as coma and anaphylactic shock. Our cancer research work assists scientists to investigate the potential to develop an electronic system [E nose] that will assist in the early detection of cancer through cheap non-invasive tests.

Our training, partnering and research work is paid for completely by the generous donations of individuals and organisations.
