Stroke Association

150,000 people have a stroke each year in the UK – on average that’s one every five minutes. Stroke is the leading cause of severe disability and claims the lives of over 67,000 people each year. A stroke is a brain attack. It happens due to a clot or a bleed in the brain, which causes brain cells to die. This can happen to anyone of any age and the effects can be devastating.

Our mission is to prevent strokes, and reduce their effect through providing services, campaigning, education and research.
